Due to lack of class time, unfortunately not everyone had the chance to present their speech. I was confident with what I had for my speech, and I can say that I have been prepared for the class. Regardless of the confidence with my preparation, it was a great war of having to overbear the nervousness as it got closer to my turn. Through this process I learned that speech is not only of preparation but also being able to overcome the fear at moment of presenting. Although the speech is well written and has been well memorized, it would be all no use when it becomes frightening at stage. I was one of the unlucky people who could not perform the speech, so instead had to video film myself giving the speech. I did not face the climatic fright, which is standing in front of audience and performing. As a personal issue, I do not seem to have much stage fright. However, I become the most nervous when I am waiting for my turn. Also, I seem to have no major problems when practicing, but when it comes to the real time, I start making silly minor errors throughout the oral speech, deriving from anxiety and nervousness.
To demonstrate that I do not take too much advantage through recording video, I did my best not to restart recording after making a mistake. Thus, my video showed that I was not perfect with my speech. Moreover, it was more awkward talking to air with no audience. It did not feel like..somewhat a real speech. Nevertheless, I realized that I make more mistakes and errors than when I was practicing. Through peer evaluations, I have learned that I did great job with my tone, showing passion. However, I regret that I should have spoken louder, and have written down more realistic examples and details. To sum up, I was satisfied with the topic that I have chosen, since many of the students were passionate about the issue: students not having authority of taking elevator rides.
I didn't edit the video! So that life is fair~
